It's not just for football anymore.
Protec mouthguards...standard equipment for any active sport
Many activities put you at risk of a tooth or mouth injury. Protection is available for any age, Little Leaguer to Senior Citizen.
Don't be a dental cripple.1 With years of practice in sports dentistry, Dr. James A. Morgan has treated a vast amount of injuries resulting from not wearing a mouthguard and from not wearing a properly fitted mouthguard. Dr. Morgan tells of a baseball player at practice who picked up a bat in the on-deck circle without noticing that another player was already there practicing his swing. The resulting injuries were: two lost teeth, bone destruction, and multiple laceration of the soft tissue. Months of dental visits, much pain and suffering, and a dental bill of over $7,000 followed. The player is now a dental cripple with a lifetime of dental costs and pain ahead.
He also tells of a basketball player who sustained injury from a blow to the mouth from another player's elbow. Fracture of the bone surrounding the upper four front teeth required resetting and fixing the bone fragment as well as root canal therapy and crowns on all four front teeth. This injury cost over $8,000. He, too, will be a dental cripple for the rest of his life. A Protec mouthguard would have significantly reduced these injuries.
A wide range of protection. The Academy of Sports Dentistry lists some 40 sports in which participants would benefit from mouth protection.2
Mouth injuries are not limited to just the teeth. The tongue, lips and cheeks can be lacerated by the sharp edges of teeth. Shock to your teeth can be transmitted to bones in the head which can result in mild to serious concussion. A blow to the chin can transmit shocks to the temporal bone which houses nerve trunks, blood supply to the brain, as well as auditory and balance mechanisms. A well-designed mouthguard can lessen the chances of jaw fractures by absorbing the energy of a traumatic blow to the chin.3 The proper kind of mouthguard can protect a lot more than just your teeth.
A classic study in 1964 recognized that head and neck injuries, as well as dental/facial injuries, were dramatically reduced by the use of mouthguards.4
In football, where mouth protection is mandatory, only .07% of all injuries involved teeth or the oral cavity. However, in basketball, where mouth protection is NOT mandatory, a huge 34% of injuries are to the teeth and mouth.5 The relationship of injuries to the use of mouthguards has also been observed in any active sport where there is the possibility of contact with another player, game equipment, the floor, or the ground. Athletes who are concerned for their own safety should wear this device.
A Protec mouthguard is pressure-laminated with up to three layers of tough, energy-absorbing EVA material which is formed over an exact impression your dentist makes of your teeth. It is compact in size and comfortable to wear.
Protec, the thoroughly modern mouthguard. A custom-fitted, multi-laminated Protec mouthguard blows away everything that has come before and is very affordable. A custom-fabricated Protec mouthguard is comfortable to wear and is less bulky. Protec won't come out or dislodge accidentally like the stock or boil-and-bite types. Because it is custom-fitted to an impression of your teeth, a Protec mouthguard will stay in place until you decide to remove it. You can speak and breathe normally while wearing it. Just place it and forget it. Save your mental and physical energies for the game. Protec will give you peace of mind and confidence to perform better.
When compared to the cost of restoration of just one tooth, the cost of a custom-fitted mouthguard becomes very inexpensive.

Custom-fabricated mouthguards like PROTEC have been the worldwide choice since 1982
It has been the first choice of athletes in Europe, Australia and the United States. The Australian Institute of Sport tested and recommended these mouthguards in 1985. Professor Robert Burgord of the Department of Polymer Science at the University of New South Wales established the breaking stress of these mouthguards at 9.5 Mpa (Megapascals). No other mouthguard, stock or boil-and-bite, came close.
As with all of Lakeview Dental Lab's dental products, the first step in purchasing your Protec mouthguard is to see your local dentist. Your dentist can show you available colors and recommend which version will be best for your activity, as well as making a mold of your teeth. "We have enjoyed working with Matt and his team. They have always been able to work with our patients by getting a flipper made in one day, or a denture in three days when in an emergency. His prices are very competitive, which is important to us and our patients. It is often said that you can tell what kind of a man someone is by the car he drives. Lakeview has a smart car, need I say more?"
